Junior QB Aaron Opelt completed 23-of-35 passes for a season-high 277 yards and tied a season-best with three touchdown passes. Opelt was also credited with his second rushing TD of the season in the second quarter. He has now thrown three TD passes on three occasions in 2008.
Junior WR Stephen Williams caught a game-high 10 catches for a season-best 136 yards and two touchdowns. Williams went over the century mark for the eighth time in his UT career and ranks seventh in school history in TD catches (15), as well as eighth in receptions (140) and pass reception yardage (1,877).
Senior WR Nick Moore hauled in eight catches for 99 yards. At one point in the fourth quarter,
Freshman DB Mark Singer made his first career start and tallied six tackles.
Redshirt freshman WR Tim Cortazzo saw his first collegiate action tonight and appeared in the starting lineup.
Junior S Lester Richmond tallied his first career interception in the second quarter and finished with four stops.
Freshman WR Kenny Stafford registered his first collegiate TD reception in the third quarter, hauling in a 22-yard pass in the third quarter.
Sophomore LB Archie Donald finished with a team-best eight tackles.
Junior PK Alex Steigerwald converted a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter and is now 34-of-38 (.895) for his career. The NCAA's all-time leader is UCLA's John Lee, who made 79-of-92 attempts (.859).
