Post-Game Quotes

Toledo-Miami (11/21/08)

Head Coach Tom Amstutz

“Morgan came mentally ready to go tonight. He ran hard. He ran fast. The line did a nice job. We're a good team when we can mix the run and pass together.”

“It was a real fun night on offense.”

“That's one thing about this team. They're very resilient. They keep on battling and keep on working hard. They want to finish the season with a couple wins. This was really important for them and good for our program. That's a young team out there. There's 19 underclassmen starting out there so it's important for them to finish strong.”

“Morgan has a special talent. He's just getting used to things. This is first year playing college football. He had that kind of special talent in high school. He rushed for over 2,500 yards as a junior and senior at Canton McKinley and he has that type of talent. He's going to be a great player in the league for the next three years.”

Redshirt freshman RB Morgan Williams

(on 86-yard run)

“I got the ball. I saw the hole and a lot of field. So I just sprinted to the end zone. If I would have another 20 yards they would have got me.”

(on what it means to break school record)

“It means a lot but I'm just happy we got the win in the Glass Bowl and for Coach Amstutz.”

Junior QB Aaron Opelt

(on winning first home game)

“It feels really good. The guys came out and played well. The o-line played awesome opening huge holes for Morgan. You have to give Morgan a lot of credit. He had a huge game.”

(on Morgan Williams)

“He's got that breakaway speed. I thought one guy had him and he proved me wrong. He's an exciting guy to watch. He makes plays when there aren't plays to be made. That's going to help our offense out a ton.”

(on next week)

“It's BG week. That's all you can say. It's BG week.”

Senior DB Tyrrell Herbert

(on his interception)

“If it wasn't for my long arms I probably wouldn't have gotten it.”

“It feels good to get this win. As a defense we stepped up today. The d-line, linebackers and secondary all did a great job.”

“The season hasn't gone the way we wanted to but we wanted to finish on a positive note. We wanted to show people the team we could be and send Coach Amstutz and the coaching staff out the right way. Nobody wants to go out losing their last two. Now we can go ahead and look to our rival next week.”

 Miami Head Coach Shane Montgomery

"We got off to a slow start. We were down 21-0 and that had to do with a lot of things. We couldn't stop the run. Anytime you give up 377 yards rushing, you're in for a long day."

"We made a little run there in the fourth quarter. We had a chance when we had it at 28-14 and then we didn't get some momentum back on offense."
