Tonight's loss drops Toledo to 41-9 in the Glass Bowl since the start of the 2000 season. Since Tom Amstutz's arrival as head coach in 2001, the Rockets are 35-9 at home.
UT has now lost three-consecutive home games for the first time since the 1993 campaign. That season, Toledo dropped decisions to Miami (22-19), Cincinnati (31-24) and Central Michigan (38-7).
Toledo was last blanked by a MAC opponent, 21-0, at Bowling Green on Nov. 16, 1985. The last time the Rockets were shutout at home versus a league opponent was against Central Michigan, 44-0, on Nov. 12, 1977.
Tonight's loss also drops Toledo to 54-24 (.692) all-time in Homecoming contests, including 1-1 vs. Ball State.
Toledo did not score in the opening quarter for the second time this season and the first time since the opening game of the season at Arizona (Sept. 6).
Junior RB DaJuane Collins returned to the lineup this evening after sitting out last weekend's game vs. Florida International with an injury. Collins carried the ball six times for 11 yards.
The Cardinals missed a 40-yard field goal in the waning moments of the second quarter. That marked UT's first red-zone stop of the season. Coming into tonight's contest, Toledo's opponents were 18-of-18 in red-zone scores.
Junior PK Alex Steigerwald missed a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter, snapping a streak of 23 straight makes, dating back to Nov. 14, 2006 also against the Cardinals. Steigerwald missed a 36-yard attempt vs. BSU two seasons ago. His is now 28-of-30 (.933) for his career.
Junior WR Stephen Williams caught a team-high seven passes for 56 yards. Williams leads the team with 35 receptions for 339 yards.
Redshirt freshman P Bill Klaus punted the ball six times for an average of 39.3 yards per punt, including a 52-yard boot.
Sophomore CB Desmond Marrow tied for the team lead with a career-high 10 tackles and one pass break-up.
Sophomore LB Archie Donald tied Marrow for the team-lead with a career-high 10 stops. Donald ranks on the team with 38 tackles on the season.
