Iowa State vs. Toledo

Sept. 22, 2007

Toledo, OH (Glass Bowl)

* Toledo's win tonight against Iowa State improved its record to 39-5 in its last 44 games in the Glass Bowl. The streak goes back to the middle of the 1999 season. Since 2003, the Rockets are 20-4 in the Glass Bowl, the 16th-best mark in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

* The Rockets trailed midway through the fourth quarter, 35-24, before scoring 12 points to record the come-from-behind victory. The 11-point deficit the Rockets overcame is the fourth-largest ever under sixth-year Head Coach Tom Amstutz.

* Sophomore SS Barry Church led the Rockets with a career-high 19 tackles, including three tackles-for-loss. Church's 19 stops are the most by a Rocket since Tom Ward had 22 stops vs. Ball State on Oct.12, 2002. He came into tonight's game with 13 tackles in the first three games combined. Church's previous career-best effort was 13 stops vs. Bowling Green on Nov. 23, 2004.

* Toledo opened the game with a 10-play, 95-yard scoring drive, which culminated with a 13-yard TD run by RB Jalen Parmele. The 95-yard drive is the longest this season for the Rockets. UT's previous long scoring drive was 75 yards at Central Michigan on Sept. 8.

* Senior RB Jalen Parmele returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. It marked the first time the Rockets have returned a kickoff for a score since Richard Davis raced 94 yards against Western Illinois on Sept. 1, 2005.

* Parmele finished the games with 16 carries for a team-high 74 yards and one touchdown.

* Senior Greg Hay, who has started the last 11 games at linebacker dating back to last season, was moved to rover back. Hay finished with a career-high 14 tackles and recovered a botched punt late in the fourth quarter for the eventual-game winning touchdown. Hay's previous career-high was 13 tackles against Central Michigan on Sept. 8, 2007.

* Sophomore QB Aaron Opelt finished 17-of-23 for 189 yards and one touchdown each running and throwing, including a 42-yard TD strike to Stephen Williams in the third quarter. Opelt started off game red-hot and completed his initial seven passes.

* Freshman CB Myshan Pettis recorded his first career interception in the opening quarter and finished with a career-best seven tackles.

* Sophomore WR Stephen Williams caught a team-high six passes for 113 yards, including a 42-yard TD catch in the third quarter. Williams was held without a catch last week against Kansas after having a total of 10 receptions in the first two games.

* Sophomore PK Alex Steigerwald booted a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter. Steigerwald is a perfect 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts this season and 10-of-11 in his career.

* Sophomore CB Walter Atkins had a career-high 14 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss and one sack. Atkins' previous best performance was nine stops at Kansas last week.

* Sophomore LB Beau Brudzinski and redshirt freshman DE Joe Underwood made their first collegiate starts. Brudzinski had seven tackles, while Underwood was credited with two stops, respectively.

* Toledo finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 in red-zone scoring chances and is now 10-of-12 on the season.
