KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Bruce Gradkowski threw three touchdown passes to Lance Moore and Trinity Dawson rushed for 158 yards and two scores to lead Toledo to a 59-33 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.
Gradkowski finished 23-of-27 for 286 yards for the Rockets (4-2, 3-0 Mid-American), who scored touchdowns on six consecutive first-half possessions to win their fourth straight game. Moore finished with a game-best 114 yards on seven receptions, including the scoring catches of 23, 10 and 8 yards. Dawson carried the ball 24 times.
Greg Jennings and Tyrone Walker each caught two TD passes for Western Michigan (1-4, 0-2), which has lost four consecutive games. Jennings finished with 129 yards on four receptions while Walker had seven catches for 84 yards.
Toledo's 325.6 passing yards per game ranked No. 4 in the nation heading into Saturday, but the rushing attack boosted the Rockets this time. Toledo outrushed the Broncos 350-34 on its way to 649 total yards - the most ever given up by a Western Michigan team.
Broncos kicker Robert Menchinger had a career-long 42-yard field goal, but saw his school-record points-after streak snapped at 79 after missing an attempt in the third quarter.
