Toledo won its ninth straight home game and is now 26-1 in its last 27 home games, dating back to mid-1999. The only loss in that span was a 27-13 setback to Miami on Oct. 26, 2002.
Junior PK Jason Robbins tied his career-high with a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter. Robbins also connected on a pair of 37-yard field goals as both a redshirt freshman and sophomore years, respectively.
Senior WR Kenny Higgins caught his first career touchdown pass, hauling in a 26-yard TD reception in the waning seconds of the second quarter.
Junior QB Bruce Gradkowski misfired on his first two attempts of the first half, then completed his next 15 in a row, his last a 26-yard TD strike to Kenny Higgins to put Toledo up 24-10 with eight seconds left in the half. Gradkowski finished 22-27 for 276 yards, his 13th game in his career with at least 200/300 yards.
Sophomore RB Scooter McDOugle scored his first collegiate TD on a 3-yrd plunge in the third quarter.
Senior WR Lance Mooore caught a season-high 11 passes, giving him 162 for his career, good for fourth place on UT's all-time list. The all-time leader is Donta Greene, who caught 188 passes from 1999-2002. Moore has now caught 10-plus passes in seven career-games, including twice this season. He caught 10 passes in the season opener at Minnesota.
Redshirt freshman Nigel Morris returned an interception 88 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Rockets. The 88-yard return was the fourth-longest INT return for a touchdown in school history. Tom Duncan holds the school record with a 93-yard return vs. Marshall in 1968.
