Toledo at Central Florida Post-Game Notes
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
* Freshman RB Astin Martin ran for a career-high 113 yards on 13 carries. It was his first 100-yard rushing effort of his career. On the first play of the fourth quarter, he scampered for a career-long 59-yard touchdown run (his fourth TD of the season). It was also the longest run and tied the longest play from scrimmage this season for the Rockets.
* Redshirt freshman RB Trinity Dawson ran for a career-high 100 yards on 16 carries. His previous high was 68 yards at Eastern Michigan (Sept. 7).
* Senior WR Carl Ford tied his career high with eight receptions and two TD's. Ford also had eight receptions at Ohio (Oct. 6, 2001) and at Pittsburgh (Sept. 28, 2002) and two TD receptions at Temple (Sept. 8, 2001). He leads the Rockets with 36 receptions and five TD catches this year and has now scored a touchdown in three consecutive games.
* Senior QB Brian Jones, who had thrown just one interception in his first 149 attempts, threw two in his first 14 attempts tonight. He finished the night completing 22-of-31 passes for 197 yards and two TDs. Jones is still completing over 70 percent of his passes for the season (71.1 percent, 128-for-180).
* Senior WR Dontà Greene has now caught at least one ball in 26 straight games. He ranks third on UT's all-time receiving list with 148 catches and needs seven receptions to move into second place ahead of Don Fair (1969-71).
* Greene returned a kickoff 53 yards in the fourth quarter, the longest kickoff return of the season for the Rockets. Greene had a 45-yard kickoff return earlier in the season.
* Sophomore Patrick Body started a free safety in place of injured Demetris Simms and intercepted a Ryan Schneider pass in the second quarter for his first career interception. Body also forced a fumble in the fourth quarter, his team-leading second forced fumble of the season.
* Junior P Brandon Hannum booted a 52-yard punt in the third quarter, the longest Toledo punt of the season. The previous long was 50 yards by freshman Jason Cox.
* On UCF's first play of the second half, junior DB Brandon Hefflin intercepted Ryan Schneider for his third interception this year, tying him with sophomore rover Keon Jackson for the team lead. He has eight career interceptions.
* Senior RB William Bratton's game-winning two-yard TD run in the fourth quarter was his team-leading 10th touchdown. He has now scored a touchdown in six of the Rockets' seven games.
TEAM NOTES
* The Rockets' win over Central Florida was their first in three meetings between the two schools. UT had lost its previous matchups in the 1997 and 1998 campaign.
* Toledo gained 300 yards on the ground for its second highest rushing total this year.
* Two Rockets rushed for over 100 yards for the first time since last year when Chester Taylor (186 yds.) and Antwon McCray (120 yds.) accomplished the feat in UT's season-opening 38-7 win over Minnesota (Aug. 30, 2001).
* For only the second time this season, Toledo did not score on its opening drive of the game. The first occurred in non-conference action at Pittsburgh (9/28).
* For the first time in the last 26 games, Toledo did not score in the first half. The last time the Rockets did not score in the first half was in a 21-14 loss at Western Michigan (Sept. 23, 2000).
