Football: Three Rockets Picked in Canadian Football League Draft

TOLEDO, OH - Former University of Toledo football players Fabian Burke and Lyle Green as well as returning senior Phil Gibson were selected today in the 2001 Canadian Football League draft.
A native of Kitchener, ONT, Green (6-1, 215) was picked by British Columbia with the third overall pick in the draft. As a senior, he ranked third on the team in receptions (23) for 160 yards and one touchdown.
Burke (5-11, 185), also a native of Kitchener, was selected in the second round (13th pick overall) by Edmonton. He recorded 17 tackles last season along with two fumble recoveries and one blocked punt.
Gibson (Burlington, ONT) was tabbed by Montreal in the third round (18th overall). The 6-2, 295-pound defensive lineman is returning to the Rockets for his senior season and the Alouettes will hold his rights for the 2002 season.
