Rockets to Travel to Eight States as Part of Challenging 2018-19 Schedule

2018-19 SCHEDULE

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo will undertake a challenging schedule in 2018-19 that features stiff competition against the nation's top programs on some of the best courses in the country, head coach Jeff Roope announced on Thursday. The Rockets will be playing in eight different states, including a pair of trips to California, during their upcoming season.

"There are key building blocks to excellence in men's college golf such as recruiting, alumni relations, and player development," Roope said.  "Scheduling falls into this same category and affords a program an opportunity for sustained, long-term success. That's why we are looking forward to our 2018-19 tournament schedule and are anxious to compete with so many great programs at some of the finest venues the game has to offer. We greatly appreciate the generosity of the host coaches and institutions for the invitations."

Highlighting UT's schedule will be hosting the 14th-annual Inverness Intercollegiate on Sept. 24-25 at the historic Inverness Club.

"What an exciting time to be at Inverness Club," Roope said. "The renovations being made to restore some of the original Donald Ross holes, the restructuring of the bunker system, the new greens on a few of the holes, it's all looking like an A+ on a course that was already one of the world's best.  We are so grateful to the membership and staff for allowing us to host such a great collegiate tournament at their club."

UT will begin its fall season at Fuzzy Zoeller Intercollegiate on Sept. 8-9 before heading to the Northern Intercollegiate on Sept. 15-16. Indiana University is hosting the first-year Zoeller event at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Ind., while the Northern Intercollegiate will take place at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., the site of the 2017 NCAA Championships.

Two weeks after Inverness, the Rockets will head to Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Classic on Oct. 7-8 for a second straight season. The tournament will be held at Warren Golf Course, the host of the 2019 U.S. Senior Open. UT will wrap up its fall for a third-straight season with a trip to Pebble Beach, Calif. for the Saint Mary's Invitational on Nov. 5-7, a tourney that included the likes of Stanford, Southern California and Arizona last year.

Toledo returns to action in the spring with a trip to the Louisiana Classics on Feb. 24-25. The Rockets will be competing in the event for a third straight season with last year's field including nationally-ranked squads Texas A&M, Illinois, LSU and Kent State.

UT will continue to test its abilities against top-flight competition in March by participating in two events that featured at least four Top 30 teams last year. The Rockets will visit Eatonton, Ga. for the 14th annual Linger Longer Invitational on March 15-17 before heading to San Francisco, Calif. on March 28-30 for the 50th edition of The Goodwin, formerly known as the U.S. Intercollegiate until 2014. The Goodwin will be held at TPC Harding Park, the site of the 2020 PGA Championship and 2025 Presidents Cup.

Toledo will play its final two regular-season tournaments at N.C. State's Stitch Intercollegiate on April 12-13 and Ohio State's Robert Kepler Invitational on April 19-20. The Stitch event included three Top 40 schools last year, while the Kepler is traditionally one of the top tournaments in the Midwest each spring.
