TOLEDO, Ohio - Sophomore center Luke Knapke has been named to the 2017-18 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced on Wednesday. A total of 13 student-athletes were selected to the team from this past season. Knapke helped Toledo to the 2017-18 MAC West Division title with a 13-5 league record and a 23-11 overall win-loss mark.

A management major with a 3.547 GPA, Knapke is being honored for a second straight year after averaging 10.8 points per game and ranking second on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. The Maria Stein, Ohio native ranked fourth in the MAC with a team-high 1.8 blocks per game and sixth with a team-best 55.6 field-goal percentage. Knapke also tied a school record with 60 blocked shots this season and scored in double digits on 19 occasions. He scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds vs. Marshall (Dec. 9) and blocked a career-high five shots at Miami (Feb. 9) as well as tallying four rejections vs. Eastern Michigan (March 9) and Buffalo (March 10) in the MAC Tournament.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests.
