FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Toledo sits in fifth place after carding identical rounds of 20-over par 308 in the first and second round of Friday's opening day of the 2018 Mid-American Championships. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,331-yard Sycamore Hills Golf Club.

Stephen Watts is leading the Rockets at five-over par 149 (74-75). Watts' day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five, 536-yard No. 2 hole in the opening round.

Duncan McNeill (77-77) are tied for 15
th place at 10-over par 154. Joseph rebounded from an opening-round 79 by improving by four strokes in the second round. McNeill began his day by playing the first eight holes at one-under par but was six-over par the remainder of his round.

Spencer Shoemaker tied for 30
th place at 15-over par 159 (78-81) and sophomore
Thomas Thurloway tied for 33
rd place at 16-over par 160 (79-81).
Ball State leads the nine-team field at 19-over par 595, four strokes in front of two-time defending champion Kent State and 11 ahead of third-place Miami.
The tournament's third round will be held tomorrow with the final round slated for Sunday.
