Hillsdale, Mich. - The Toledo women's track and field team, along with two men from the cross country team, set five personal records on day one of the Hillsdale GINA Relays today.
"We had a great first night at the Hillsdale GINA Relays," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "The weather was perfect for evening 5,000m performances, and we left 5/5 in PRs. Overall I'm really proud of the group this evening and I'm excited to watch how these races propel the rest of the weekend."
On the women's side, sophomore Roma Lucarelli and freshmen Hannah Sponaugle and Kayla Chapman set personal records. Lucarelli was Toledo's top finisher on day one, earning seventh in section one of the 5k open with a personal best time of 19:31.45. Sponaugle finished in 18:13.75, beating her previous record by 20 seconds. Chapman bested her personal record by 50 seconds after crossing the line in 18:19.61.
