TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo softball team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a three-game series at Western Michigan on April 20-21. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with Saturday's doubleheader tabbed for 1:00 p.m. The Mid-American Conference West Division series will be played at Ebert Field.
Toledo (28-14, 12-2 MAC)
This series could see one of many milestones for the Rockets. A series win would secure Toledo its first 30-win season in 22 years. In 1995, the Rockets finished the season at 37-30. Furthermore, a three-game sweep of the Broncos would give head coach
Kristen Butler her 100th career win.
The record books could be changing as well. Freshman
Bailey Curry is one home run away from tying the single-season home run mark of 13. She currently leads the team in home runs (12), average (.373), RBIs (41), hits (50) and walks (22).
Junior
Kailey Minarchick has posted a 15-4 record on the season with a 2.57 ERA in 122.2 innings. Minarchick has won 10-straight decisions dating back to March 16. Â
Western Michigan (22-18, 9-6 MAC)
The Broncos enter the weekend tied for second place in the MAC West, 3.5 games behind Toledo for the top spot. WMU won its previous conference series with two wins over Ball State last weekend.
Western Michigan boasts a powerful lineup with six batters registering at least three home runs on the season. Aspen Williams leads the team with nine homers, while Samantha Coffel tops the team with a .375 average, 31 RBIs and 13 doubles.Â
Jordan Kurth has picked up nine wins in the circle for the Broncos and has thrown a team-high 85.0 innings. She currently has a 3.54 ERA and holds opponents to a .229 batting average.
Up Next
Toledo travels to Central Michigan to complete its road schedule. The Rockets then complete the 2018 campaign with a home series against Ball State.
