TOLEDO, Ohio — The defending Mid-American Conference champion Toledo women's soccer program will open its 2018 campaign with four straight road matches before hosting reigning Horizon League champion IUPUI in its home opener on Sunday, Sept. 2.
"We're excited about our 2018 schedule and believe our non-conference opponents will prepare us well for league play," Head Coach TJ Buchholz said. "Last year was an amazing and rewarding experience for everyone involved with our program, but now we are building for our upcoming season."
The Rockets hit the field for the first time in 2018 with a visit to Cincinnati to meet Xavier on Aug. 17. UT will wrap up its first weekend of play two days later with another match in Southwestern Ohio against Wright State. Toledo continues its season-opening road swing a week later when it travels west for matchups against Valparaiso on Aug. 24 and UIC on Aug. 26.
Following its home opener vs. IUPUI, the Rockets will remain at home for contests vs. Detroit Mercy on Sept. 6 and Illinois State on Sept. 14. UT will receive its final tune-up for league play at Oakland on Sept. 16.
Toledo opens its conference season at Ball State on Sept. 21 followed by a trip to Oxford, Ohio to meet Miami on Sept. 23.
The Rockets then return to the friendly confines of Scott Park for five of their next six contests when they will host Western Michigan (Sept. 28), Northern Illinois (Sept. 30), Central Michigan (Oct. 7), Ohio (Oct. 12) and Kent State (Oct. 14). UT's lone road match during this stretch will be a short trip to Ypsilanti, Mich. to battle Eastern Michigan on Oct. 4.
Toledo wraps up its conference slate with three consecutive road contests. The Rockets will play at Buffalo on Oct. 18 and Akron on Oct. 21 before concluding their regular season with their 'Battle of I-75' match at Bowling Green on Oct. 25. UT possesses an 11-match winning streak against the Falcons, including a 2-1 (OT) victory in last year's MAC Championship match.
The 2018 MAC Tournament will be held at campus sites against this season. The quarterfinals will be hosted on Oct. 28 by the top four seeds with the semifinals and championship taking place on Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 at the highest remaining seed.
