CLEVELAND, Ohio - Toledo freshman Bailey Curry has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
This is Curry's second weekly conference award of the season and the fifth time that a Rocket has been honored. Curry and junior pitcher Heather Webb have combined to take home a player of the week award in four of the last five weeks for UT.
During the week, Curry hit a blistering .727 (8-for-11) with a double, a home run and six RBIs in the Rockets' three game sweep over Akron. Curry scored a pair of runs, stole her first collegiate base and slugged over 1.000 for the weekend.
The Frankfort, Ky. native currently leads the Rockets in average (.362), home runs (8), RBIs (27), hits (34), walks (12), slugging percentage (.660) and on-base percentage (.440). Her eight home runs on the campaign is tied for third most in a single season in program history.
Toledo (17-12, 3-0 MAC) will host Oakland for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 28 before returning to MAC play at 2017 MAC Tournament champion Kent State on March 30-31.
