LAFAYETTE, La. – Toledo moved up three spots in Tuesday's final round at the Louisiana Classics to finish in a ninth-place tie at eight-over par 872 (297-285-290). The Rockets played their best golf following the first round of the tournament, finishing at one-under par over the final 36 holes at the par-72, 6,866-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
Senior
Colin Joseph paced UT today by carding his second-straight two-under par 70 to finish tied for 34
th place at two-over par 218 (78-70-70) in the overall standings.
Sophomore
Thomas Thurloway was the Rockets' top performer in the tourney with a one-over par 217 (70-74-73) to finish tied for 30
th place. Thurloway's day was highlighted by five birdies over the first 18 holes.
Rounding out the Rockets' lineup was sophomore
Joe Bryce tied for 46
th place at four-over par 220 (76-70-74), senior
Stephen Watts tied for 55
th place at five-over par 221 (76-71-74), and junior
Duncan McNeill tied for 59
th place at six-over par 222 (75-74-73).
No. 3 Texas A&M captured the tournament title with an amazing 29-under par 835 (282-273-280), eight strokes in front of runner-up No. 11 Illinois (281-281-281=843). The Aggies' Dan Erickson earned medalist honors at 10-under par 206 (69-69-68).
The Rockets will return to action next week with a trip to the Sunshine State for the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, March 5-6.
