Toledo, Ohio— The Toledo women's track and field team heads to the Tom Wright Classic on Friday for its second indoor meet of the season.

Field events are set to begin at 5:00 p.m. with running events slated to start at 6:00 p.m.

"This meet will be a good chance for many of our athletes to get some competition in the facility that will be hosting the MAC Championships," head coach Linh Nguyen said.

Toledo will look to build off its successful start to the season from last weekend. The Rockets won five events and set an indoor school record at the Doug Raymond Invitational last Saturday. Katie Dewey's record-breaking performance came in the weight throw (55-00.0), and her teammates Olivia Chinn, Christina Johnson, Jennifer Lichter, and Athena Welsh all won events for the Midnight Blue and Gold.

"We had a good start to our season last week," Nguyen said. "We're just looking to continue improving on our fitness and competitiveness. These first few meets are really training tools to help us get where we want to be at the end of February."

Last year at the Tom Wright Classic, Toledo took home two events wins— Alexa Jarrett in the pole vault and Joan Jepkirui in the 1,600-meter run.

This weekend's competition will feature student-athletes from MAC foes Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
