Toledo Opens 2017-18 Season at Wolf Run Intercollegiate

LIVE STATS FOR WOLF RUN INTERCOLLEGIATE
    TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo will open the fall portion of its 2017-18 campaign as well as its first season under Head Coach Jeff Roope at Indiana's Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Friday-Sunday, Sept. 8-10 at the Wolf Run Golf Course. The 54-hole tournament will be played on a 7,155-yard, par-71 layout with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. each day.
    The Rockets, who are participating in this event for the third time in the last five years, will compete against a 16-team field that includes fellow Mid-American Conference members Ball State, Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio) as well as Arkansas State, Central Florida, East Carolina, Fort Wayne, host Indiana, IUPUI, Kentucky, North Carolina State, North Texas, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
    "The team and coaching staff are very excited to get the season started," Roope said. "To have the chance to proudly represent the University of Toledo and the Rockets is something that I personally am looking forward to, and I know that the players and coaches take a great deal of pride in. Wolf Run is a fantastic gem of a golf course and the field that IU has assembled is a solid group of programs that most definitely will be a good measuring stick for all."
    The Rockets' lineup at Wolf Run will be led by sophomore Thomas Thurloway, who earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors last season after pacing UT with a 74.5 stroke average. Joining Thurloway in UT's opening tourney will be senior Stephen Watts, freshman Dylan Van Fossen, sophomore Joe Bryce and junior Duncan McNeill. UT will be paired with Bowling Green and Western Kentucky during the first round on Friday.
    Following this weekend's Wolf Run event, UT will host the Inverness Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 18-19 at the historic Inverness Club. Making up this year's field will be Bowling Green, UCLA, Fresno State, Mercer, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Ohio State, Saint Mary's (CA) and Washington.
