Rockets Run in ISU Country Financial Invitational on Friday

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo cross country teams compete in the Illinois State University Country Financial Invitational in Normal, Ill. on Friday. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Weibring Golf Club.
The Rockets started their season last weekend in the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green. The women's team swept the podium, while the men's team placed a pair of runners in the top five.
On the women's side, Olivia Chinn took the win in a 5k time of 18:06.6. Chinn finished just ahead of Stephanie Barlow (18:08.2) and Amanda Bakley (18:17.0) who rounded out the top three. Michelle Hostettler placed sixth, crossing the line in 18:25.3, in her Toledo debut.
Dismas Koech led the Midnight Blue & Gold with a second place performance in the men's 5k event. Dismas clocked in with a 15:35.1, just five seconds behind the race winner. Alberto Chelimo also placed inside the top five. His time of 15:44.9 was good for fourth place.
UT will look forward to competing against host Illinois State, Wisconsin, Illinois-Chicago, Loyola, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Western Illinois. The men's team from North Central along with women's teams from Ball State and Northern Illinois will also be in competition.
