TOLEDO, Ohio – Sophomore wide receiver
Diontae Johnson was voted the Iron Workers Union No. 55 "Ironman of the Game" for his performance in the Rockets' 52-30 defeat at the hands of No. 14 Miami on Sept. 23.
Johnson hauled in a career-high eight catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns against the Hurricanes. Senior quarterback
Logan Woodside found Johnson for a six-yard touchdown strike with 9:21 left in the fourth quarter. Less than two minutes later, Woodside and Johnson hooked up again for an eight-yard score on the first play of the drive.
Through the Rockets' first four games, Johnson ranks second of the team with 20 catches and 363 yards. He leads the team with five touchdown receptions and leads the Mid-American Conference with 168.2 all purpose yards per game.
