Box Score
DETROIT - Double overtime was not enough to decide a winner as the Toledo women's soccer team played Detroit Mercy to a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon at Titan Field.
The Rockets (0-0-1 overall) controlled the action for much of the match and out-shot the Titans, 10-7. Seniors Isa Echeverri and Sophie Pohl led the Midnight Blue and Gold with three shots apiece. Toledo took seven corner kicks, five of which came in the second half, while UDM did not take a corner on the day.
Redshirt freshman Madison Perrin (0-0-1) stopped five shots in her collegiate debut between the posts. Detroit Mercy (0-0-1 overall) received four saves from reigning Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year Marina Manzo.
The opening half of soccer was played in the middle third of the field without much offense on either side. UT and UDM could muster just one shot each.
Toledo's best chance of the day came in the 56th minute when junior Alena Sidwell broke free with just the goalie to beat. A save by Manzo kept the match scoreless early in the second half. Perrin made a big save of her own in the 85th minute as time ticked down in regulation.
The Rockets' offense made a late offensive push as Pohl found sophomore Kelsey Kraft who missed just high in the 87th minute. Toledo took three corner kicks in the final two minutes of regulation but could not convert.
Senior Regan Price fired a long strike in the 8th minute of the first overtime period that missed just high. The Rockets put one shot on goal in the second overtime, but it was all for naught as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Rockets return to the field for their home opener on Sunday, Aug. 20 against Canisius at Scott Park. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m.
