Toledo, Ohio – Toledo men's tennis head coach Al Wermer released the 2017-18 schedule on Friday that features six home contests and three match-ups with Big Ten Conference opponents.
"We did a lot of analysis during last year and, although most would find much differences, and with a lot of input from some of our team members, we've overhauled and streamlined our competitive schedule," said Wermer. "Remaining, are those exciting challenges versus some top programs in the country, plus a fun trip to the brand new USTA National Training Center near Orlando." Â Â
The Rockets open up their fall schedule at home with the UT Rocket Invitational on Sept.29 before heading to Louisville, Ky. for the Louisville Invitational, Oct.13-15. UT will then travel to the ITA Midwest Regionals (Oct.19-23) in Ann Arbor, Mich., before concluding their fall schedule at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, Nov.10-12.
UT will encounter stiff competition during the winter slate as the Midnight Blue & Gold challenge three teams that were ranked in the top 50 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings last year. Toledo begins the winter season with two matches in two days, traveling to Dayton (Jan.20) and Wright State (Jan.21). A week later, the Rockets face-off with No.4 Ohio State on Jan.28 at 6:00 p.m.

UT takes a trip down to Florida to open up the spring season for three matches in five days beginning on March 3 with Alumni Day at the USTA National Training Center in Lake Nona, Fla. On March 6, the Rockets have a match with Embry-Riddle before concluding their Florida trip with a match-up against Radford at the USTA NTC.
The Rockets play host to Western Michigan (March 16) and reigning MAC Tournament Champion Buffalo (March 18) to open up conference play. The first road MAC contest will take place in Muncie, Ind. against Ball State on March 24 before challenging Big Ten foe Indiana, March 25. Â
In the final road weekend of the season, the Rockets head to Buffalo (Apr.7) and Northern Illinois (Apr.13) before heading home to close out the regular season against Binghamton (Apr.20) and Western Michigan (Apr.21).
