Toledo Remains Unbeaten with 72-66 Win Over Spanish All-Stars

MONTECATINI, Italy – Toledo remained unbeaten on its foreign trip on Monday evening with a 72-66 victory over a Spanish All-Star squad. Senior guard Tre'Shaun Fletcher led the Rockets with 21 points and eight boards, while sophomore forward Willie Jackson tallied a double-double with 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

"It was great for us to be tested by a team that had five or six former Division I players," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "I thought we had two guys who really carried us tonight with Tre'Shaun Fletcher and Willie Jackson stepping up for us."

UT led 18-11 after the first quarter before seeing its lead dwindle to 29-25 at the half. The Rockets then extended their margin to 53-44 after three stanzas before the Spanish club came within two points on several occasions in the final quarter.

"We played against a team that was more athletic than the first team we played on our trip and that really motivated us," Jackson said. "A game like this shows us we still have a lot of work to do, but it's good that we played well down the stretch and got the win."

Toledo will travel to Venice on Tuesday before playing an Italian All-Star squad at the U.S. Army base in Vicenza, Italy on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
