Grant Godfrey Ties for Second at Ohio Amateur Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Sophomore Grant Godfrey tied for second place at the 2017 Ohio Amateur Championship this week after posting a 72-hole total of even-par 280 (70-70-69-71). The tournament concluded on Friday at the Springfield Country Club.

Godfrey, a Delaware, Ohio native, tied for runner-up honors with Marshall's Alex Weiss (68-74-70-68), four strokes behind former Wright State golfer Austin Sipe (67-68-67-74). He competed in seven tournaments as a freshman and registered a 78.4 stroke average.

Senior Stephen Watts also posted a Top-20 showing in the event, tying for 14^th place at 10-over par 290 (71-70-79-70). A Larne, Northern Ireland native, Watts ranked second on the Rockets' squad with a 74.6 stroke average.
