UT to Host Saint Francis (PA) in First Round of Preseason WNIT on Nov. 10

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Toledo will host Saint Francis (PA) in the first round of the 2017 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament, the WNIT announced on Wednesday. The Rockets will entertain Northeast Conference member Red Flash on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.
The winner of the UT-SFU contest will face nationally ranked Louisville-Southeast Missouri victor in the second round, at a site to be determined on Sunday, Nov. 12 or Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The 24th-annual Preseason WNIT will feature at least three games for all squads, and all contests are hosted by participating schools.
The opening round match-up will be the fourth all-time meeting between Toledo and Saint Francis (PA). The Midnight Blue & Gold leads the all-time series, 2-1, including a 71-66 home triumph in the 2010 Preseason WNIT.
UT will take part in the 24th-annual Preseason WNIT for the fourth time in program history and is one of eight teams in the field that qualified for post-season play in 2016-17. Toledo captured its eighth Mid-American Conference title in program history last season and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2001.Â
Toledo also took part in the Preseason WNIT during the 1994-95, 1998-99 and 2010-11 seasons. UT has tallied a 2-4 all-time record in the event.
UT is slated to return nine letterwinners in 2017-18, including four starters, from a squad that finished with a 25-9 overall record and a 12-6 league ledger last season. Guided by 10th-year head coach Tricia Cullop, the Rockets welcome back 77.4 percent of their scoring, 76.9 percent of their rebounding, 86.9 percent of their assists, 90.1 percent of their blocks and 77.5 percent of their steals.
Tickets for Toledo's first-round match-up against Saint Francis (PA) will be included in its season-ticket package and season tickets go on sale on Monday, June 26. Tickets for any additional UT home contests in the Preseason WNIT must be purchased outside of the season-ticket package. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase single-game tickets when the exact dates and times are announced at the conclusion of the previous round.
