NORMAL, Ill. - Former Toledo baseball left-handed pitcher Steve Calhoun has signed an independent league contract with the Normal CornBelters in the Frontier League, head coach
Cory Mee announced on Thursday.
Calhoun pitched for the Rockets from 2014-17 and won 17 games on the mound for the Midnight Blue & Gold.
The Tipp City, Ohio native wrapped up his collegiate career with the second-most innings pitched (325.0) and the fourth-most strikeouts (230) in program history.
The 12-team Frontier League is in its 25th year of existence with each squad playing a 96-game regular season from May-September. Calhoun and the CornBelters currently sit in fourth place in the West Division with an 18-18 record.
