The Rockets (15-37) were led by Adolph and sophomore Riley Campbell who recorded a pair of hits and scored two runs each. Junior Dalton Bollinger also went 3-for-5 with a double for the Midnight Blue & Gold.
UT scored the game's opening run in the top of the first inning as Bollinger drove in Campbell with his team-high 18th double of the season. Bollinger now ranks Top 50 nationally in two baggers.
Ohio State (21-32) took the lead, 2-1, in the second on a RBI groundout and a throwing error by the Rockets. Toledo was blanked in the third, but freshman starting pitcher Joey Prechtel matched with a zero of his own.
UT regained the lead with three runs in the fourth. Three-straight singles by Adolph, senior Corey Tipton and senior Jake Krupar tied the score at 2-2. Junior Matt Hansen laid down a RBI sacrifice bunt to score Tipton on a close play at the plate, giving the visitors a 3-2 edge. Campbell made it 4-2 with a RBI single to left, scoring Krupar, who stumbled his way home from second.
The Buckeyes came right back and matched with three runs, taking a 5-4 advantage on a two-run home run and a bases-loaded walk. OSU pushed the lead to 8-4 with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Campbell sparked the Rockets' seventh with a one-out single and advanced to second on junior Brad Boss' walk. Bollinger singled to right to load the bases and junior AJ Montoya knocked in Campbell with a sacrifice fly to center.
Toledo still needed a big two-out hit and Adolph delivered with a towering three-run home run to right field. Adolph pulls even with Hansen, Bollinger and Montoya for the team lead with six home runs on the campaign.
Unfortunately, the Toledo offense was done scoring, while the Buckeyes tallied a pair of runs in the seventh and an insurance tally in the eighth to make the final score 11-8.
The Rockets conclude the regular season with a three-game series at Mid-American Conference West Division rival Eastern Michigan this weekend. Two wins will clinch UT a spot in the conference tournament, while one win will leave the Midnight Blue & Gold watching other MAC competition in hopes of receiving a berth to postseason play.
