CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo swimming and diving had 10 student-athletes earn a spot on the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference squad, the league office announced on Monday. Jessica Avery, Allie Brinkhoff, Bailey Cahill, Allison Dicke, Emily Frederick, Madeline Grubbe, Gabbi Haaraoja, Maggie Hack, Rachael Hester and Katrin Streicher were selected due to their outstanding efforts in the classroom, as well as the pool, in 2016-17.
 
This is the second-straight season Avery, Brinkhoff, Dicke, Frederick, Hack, Hester and Streicher have been honored with this award.
 
Ball State topped the conference with 18 student-athletes receiving academic honors. Bowling Green placed 17 student-athletes on the team, while Akron and Eastern Michigan each earned 16 on the team. 
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
