
Toledo Visits Oakland for Non-Conference Twinbill

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo softball (21-30, 9-9 MAC) will compete against Horizon League member Oakland (17-18, 10-8 Horizon) in Rochester, MI on Wednesday, April 26 in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Toledo leads the all-time series with the Golden Grizzlies, 11-10. The last meeting between the two squads was in 2014 when the Rockets defeated Oakland, 8-6, at Scott Park.

The Grizzlies are hitting .255 as a team and are led by sophomore outfielder Mikayela Marciniak who holds a .330 batting average, 35 hits, and 11 runs through Oakland's 35 games. She paces the team with 7 doubles, 25 RBI and a .491 slugging percentage. Freshman Jamie Squires leads the team with five homers on the season.

Senior pitcher Erin Kownacki holds a 1.63 ERA through a team-high 111.2 innings with 66 strikeouts.

Following Wednesday's twinbill, UT will travel back to the Glass City for a three-game MAC series vs. Western Michigan. The weekend series will begin Friday, April 28 with a 3:00 p.m. game at Scott Park. The teams will return on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. Seniors Celeste Fidge, Ashley Maynard and Chandler Rice will be honored on Saturday after the games conclude.
