Rockets Move Up One Spot to Finish Fifth at MAC Championships

Silver Lake, Ohio – Toledo moved up one spot in Sunday's final round of the 2017 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships to finish in fifth place at the par-72, 6,177-yard Silver Lake Country Club. The Rockets registered their best team score of the event today with a 15-over par 303 to edge Akron by a stroke with a 54-hole total of 64-over par 928 (313-312-303).
Sophomore Pinyada Kuvanun paced UT by tying for 12th place at 14-over par 230 (77-77-76), while sophomore Pimchanok Kawil finished two strokes behind her classmate at 16-over par 232 (80-77-75). The duo received second-team All-MAC honors following the tournament in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
Freshman Saranlak Tumfong tied for 20th place at 18-over par 234 (79-78-77), one stroke in front of sophomore Natcha Daengpiem tied for 23rd place at 19-over par 235 (77-80-77). Sophomore Hannah Kochendoerfer tied Kawil with the Rockets' best round today with a three-over par 75 to finish tied for 34th place at 25-over par 241 (86-80-75).
No. 15 Kent State (289-298-288=875) captured the tournament title for a 19th-consecutive year with a 34-stroke victory over Northern Illinois (304-302-303=909). Western Michigan (309-310-303) and Ohio (304-302-316) tied for third place at 58-over par 922. Sophomore Michaela Finn captured medalist honors for the Golden Flashes at two-under par 214 (73-70-71) and was the only golfer to shoot under par.
