Toledo Tied for Sixth Place Following Day One of MAC Championships

Silver Lake, Ohio – Toledo sits in a sixth-place tie following Friday's opening round of the 2017 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Silver Lake Country Club. The Rockets shot a team score of 25-over par 313 and were paced by sophomores Natcha Daengpiem and Pinyada Kuvanun, who each shot five-over par 77s and are tied for 13th place.
Kuvanun was within one shot of the lead through 14 holes but registered bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes and a double-bogey on the 18th hole. Daengpiem also was hurt by a short stretch and was one-over through 10 holes before double-bogeying the 11th and bogeying the next two holes before posting pars on the final five holes.
Freshman Saranlak Tumfong is tied for 23rd place at seven-over par 79 and was two-over on the front nine before finishing the back nine at five-over par. Sophomore Pimchanok Kawil is tied for 32nd place at eight-over par 40 and finished at four-over par on both the front and back nines.
Sophomore Hannah Kochendoerfer rounded out the Rocket lineup with a 14-over par 86 and is alone in 47th place.
No. 15 Kent State leads the 10-team field with an impressive one-over par, and four Golden Flashes sit atop the individual leaderboard. Senior Wad Phaewchimplee is joined by freshmen Pimnipa Panthong and Karoline Stormo in first place at even-par 72. Sophomore Michaela Finn is in sole possession of fourth place at one-over par 73.
The Rockets will open the second round tomorrow on the No. 10 tees beginning at 8:50 a.m.
