TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo (18-25, 6-5 MAC) looks to sweep the season series with Eastern Michigan (14-22, 2-9 MAC) when it travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. on Wednesday for a 2:00 p.m. contest at EMU's Varsity Field. UT has already claimed two wins over the Eagles this season.
Since the Rockets met EMU last Tuesday, the Eagles won a non-conference game vs. Detroit Mercy, 3-1, but was swept by Bowling Green in a league series over the weekend.
In last week's doubleheader with the Eagles at Scott Park, Toledo opened the day with a 6-4 victory and closed it out with a 5-4 win in Game 2. Sophomore RHP Kailey Minarchick (7-8) picked up both wins for the Rockets after allowing just four hits and one earned run in three frames in Game 1, and permitting just one hit in one inning of work in the nightcap.
Toledo banged out 18 hits vs. Eastern Michigan, guided by three-hit efforts from junior catcher Kylie Gross (3-for-6, 2B), junior OF Ashley Rausch (3-for-7, RBI, two runs) and senior OF Celeste Fidge (3-for-7, HR, three RBI).
Four Rockets tallied a home run against the Eagles. In Game 1, senior 2B Chandler Rice hit a solo homer to center, while Fidge and sophomore 3B Katie Cozy each hit a two-run shot to right center. Sophomore SS Megan Choate ripped a two-run blast in the nightcap.
Following UT's midweek game with EMU, the Rockets will welcome west-division foe Central Michigan to the Glass City on April 14-15 for a three-game series before traveling to East Lansing for a non-conference matchup vs. Big Ten member Michigan State on April 19.
