CLEVELAND, Ohio - Toledo junior outfielder AJ Montoya has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 3-9, the conference office announced on Monday. This is the second time that Montoya has won the award, also receiving the honor on March 20.

Montoya led the Rockets to a pair of wins over I-75 rival Bowling Green in an inter-divisional series. He paced the Rockets on the week with a .412 (7-of-17) average with three home runs, three doubles and drove in eight runs. Montoya also walked and scored five runs during the week.

In the Rockets midweek game at Wright State, Montoya went 1-for-4 with a double. Toledo fell to the Raiders, 4-2.

The St. Joseph's, Mich. native hit a first-inning grand slam to put the Rockets ahead in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Bowling Green. Montoya was not done as he connected for another home run, a two-run shot in the eighth inning. He also added a pair of doubles and scored four runs in the 20-4 win.

In the series finale, Montoya was 2-for-5 including a two-run, extra-inning home run to clinch a 8-4 win and a series victory for the Midnight Blue & Gold.

The Rockets take on Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 12 at 6:05 p.m. in South Bend, Ind. before taking on Buffalo in a three-game series at Scott Park on March 14-16.
