TOLEDO, OH — Seniors
Steve Taylor, Jr. (Chicago, IL) and
Jonathan Williams (Southfield, MI) were each recognized on Monday by the Mid-American Conference as the all-league squads were announced. Taylor was awarded a spot on the second team, while Williams was a third-team selection. The All-MAC teams were determined from voting by the league's 12 head coaches.

    A 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward, Taylor ranks second in team scoring with 15.6 ppg to go along with a MAC-best 12.5 rpg and a team-high 3.8 apg. He is tied for second nationally in rebounding and leads the country with 10.1 defensive rpg (ahead of Purdue's Caleb Swanigan 9.8 mark). In addition, Taylor's 23 double-doubles rank third in the nation which has helped him set a school record with 376 rebounds this season. That total surpassed the 371 boards grabbed by Doug Hess, who averaged 15.5 rpg in the 1969-70 campaign. Taylor has led or shared the team lead in rebounding on a team-high 24 occasions, assists a team-best 14 times and scoring eight times.

    Williams, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard who earned a spot on the MAC's All-Freshman Team in 2013-14 and was a third-team All-MAC honoree last year, ranks third in the league with a team-high 19.7 ppg. Williams has scored 20 or more points in a team-high 18 contests this season, including a career-high 30-point showing at Central Michigan (Jan. 13). He leads Toledo this year in free-throw percentage (81.4) free throws made (131) and free-throw attempts (161) and ranks fifth on UT's all-time scoring list with 1,721 points. Williams also has paced the Rockets in scoring on 17 occasions and in assists in eight games.

   Toledo will be in action tonight when it hosts arch-rival Bowling Green in the first round of the 2017 MAC Tournament at 8:00 p.m. The Rockets are the No. 7 seed in the tourney, while the Falcons are the No. 10 seed.
