Toledo Ventures to MAC East Division Leader Ohio on Saturday

ATHENS, OH - Toledo (14-6, 5-4 MAC) will commence a stretch of four of five games away from home when it ventures to Mid-American Conference East Division leader Ohio (16-5, 7-3 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 4. Tip-off time is set for 3:00 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
UT will be looking to carry the momentum from back-to-back home wins against reigning MAC West Division champion Central Michigan, 74-72, and most recently reigning MAC Tournament champion Buffalo, 85-63, on Wednesday.
Toledo shot an impressive 46.2 percent (54-of-117) from the field and dished out a respectable 22.5 assists in the consecutive victories.
On Wednesday, the Rockets strung together a game-changing 12-2 run over the course of the first and second periods to sweep the regular-season series against the Bulls.
The Midnight Blue & Gold trailed 12-11 with 51 seconds left in the first quarter before going on the game-changing burst.Â
Senior Janice Monakana paced three Rockets in double figures with a career-high 29 points and in the process became the 26th player in school history to reach the 1,000-career point plateau. The London, England native scored almost half of her points at the charity stripe, draining 14-of-15 at the line to tally at least 20 points for the second time this year.
Sophomore Kaayla McIntyre added 18 points and sophomore Mikaela Boyd finished with 11 points, a career-high 12 caroms and a collegiate-best nine dimes to help the home team top the 80-point plateau for the third time this season.
As a team, the Rockets shot a MAC-season high 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from the field and a season-best 84.8 percent (28-of-33) from the charity stripe to improve to 11-0 all-time against UB at home.
UT was also dominant on the boards and held a 44-34 rebounding edge, as well as totaling a 21-10 advantage in assists. The Bulls entered the match-up leading the league in rebounding margin (+8.5).
 Toledo continues to be fueled offensively by the quartet of Monakana, junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, Boyd and McIntyre, who are averaging 12.5, 11.5, 10.6 and 10.0 ppg, respectively.
Monakana has been nothing short of sensational over the last five contests, contributing team highs in points (18.8 ppg) and thefts (2.2 spg) in 27.2 minutes.
UT, which sports a 6-2 record away from home, will take on an Ohio squad which had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 64-59 loss at Central Michigan on Wednesday. MAC Player of the Year candidate Quiera Lampkins led the Bobcats with a game-high 24 points and a contest-best five assists.
Ohio, which is 9-1 at home, features two players scoring at least 9.5 points per game and is paced by Lampkins' 19.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, and 2.5 spg in 35.0 mpg.
Tomorrow's MAC cross-division match-up will showcase two of the league's premier defensive teams.Â
The Rockets are currently first in the MAC in scoring defense (62.2 ppg) and three-point field-goal percentage defense (.247, 42-of-170), as well as ranking third in overall field-goal percentage defense (.379, 193-of-509) in conference games, while the Bobcats are second (63.7 ppg), first (.356, 202-of-567) and fourth (.292, 50-of-171), respectively.
UT and Ohio will meet for the second time in two weeks and 68th time overall. The Bobcats secured a 64-55 road victory against the Rockets on Jan. 18 in Savage Arena.Â
