Toledo Finishes Tied for 11th Place at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, LA - Toledo finished tied for 11th place at the Louisiana Classics on Tuesday. The 32nd-annual tourney was hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette at the Oakbourne Country Club (Par-72, 6,898 Yards).
The Rockets shot 47-over par 911 (296-306-309) over the course of 54 holes to find themselves tied for the 11th spot with Louisiana Tech among 15 teams.
Individually, junior Colin Joseph paced UT at eight-over par 224 (73-77-74) and tied for 24th place. Joseph posted UT's top round during today's final loop, firing a two-over par 74. Â Â
Junior Stephen Watts finished tied for the 35th spot at 10-over par 226 (73-76-77), followed by freshmen Joe Bryce and Thomas Thurloway, who tied for 45th place at 13-over par 229 (72-79-78) and tied for the 65th spot at 17-over par 233 (78-75-80), respectively. Sophomore Spencer Shoemaker rounded out Toledo's lineup and placed 85th at 28-over par 244 (80-78-86).
In addition, freshman Grant Godfrey (81-79) competed as an individual and finished 84th at 26-over par 242 (81-79-82).
Mid-American Conference member Kent State ran away with the team championship with a three-round score of 21-under par 843 (281-280-282) and held a 19-stroke advantage over Texas A&M (287-288-287=862, -2). The Golden Flashes had four golfers among the Top 15 individuals to cruise to a double-digit margin of victory.
LSU's Sam Burns secured medalist honors at 10-under par 206 (70-68-68), one stroke ahead of KSU's Ian Holt at nine-under par 207 (65-71-71).
The Rockets will return to the golf course on Monday-Tuesday, March 18-19 when they take part in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
