OXFORD, OH – Toledo finished in seventh place in the 2016-17 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday evening. Junior Jess Avery and freshman
Izzy Jones each swam to a second-team All-MAC selection for their efforts throughout the season.

"I am extremely pleased with how we finished the meet tonight," said head coach
Jonas Persson. "Izzy and Jess finished with top-three finishes, and we had several other finalists that scored valuable points for us. I am very proud of the entire team and how every single swimmer performed over the weekend."

FINAL HEATS
Freshman
Izzy Jones qualified for the final heat of the 200 back by tying her lifetime-best finish, and stopped the clock at a new personal-best time of 1:56.63 for third place in the championship finals. Her new PR is a NCAA B-cut qualifying time and moves her into second place on Toledo's all-time Top 10 performance list. She had ranked third with her previous best time.
Junior
Jessica Avery swam to a second-place finish in the championship finals of the 200 breast. Avery stopped the clock at a new lifetime-best time of 2:12.99, which is an NCAA B-cut qualifying time and ranks her third all-time at Toledo in the 200 breast.

Maggie Hack recorded a lifetime-best time of 50.73 in the prelims of the 100 free, which landed on UT's all-time list as No. 6. She returned to the final heats and touched 14
th with a time of 50.90.

In the consolation finals of the 200 fly, junior Kat Streicher matched her season-best time that she recorded in the prelims for an eighth-place finish of 2:03.17. Sophomore
Bailey Cahill out swam her lifetime best she recorded in the morning's preliminaries for a 15
th finish of 2:05.65. Junior
Emily Frederick rounded out the Rockets in the 200 fly with a 16
th-place finish of 2:07.05. Frederick had previously recorded a personal-best finish of 2:06.50 in the prelims.
Toledo's 400 free relay team placed seventh with a time of 3:26.82. Junior
Allison Dicke led off for the Rockets with a time of 52.21, junior Gabbi Haarajoa followed in 52.74, Hack touched at 51.29, and Jones finished at 50.58.

Nearly all of UT's swimmers continued their personal success in the pool on day three. Below are the Rockets who did not make the final heats, however still timed season- or lifetime-bests in the preliminaries.

Anna Dunphy (2:05.81) and sophomore Maddie Grubbe (2:09.34) all timed season-bests in the 200 back prelims.

Haaraoja and Dicke both recorded season-best times in the 100 free of 53.30 and 52.14, respectively

Bec Welke swam to her third personal-best time recorded at MACs on Saturday morning. Welke recorded a time of 2:22.82 in the 200 breast, while juniors
Brittany Puthoff (2:22.67 ) and
Ciana Heaston (2:22.77) each touched at a season-best time in the event.

Corinne Harris stopped the clock at a new personal-best time of 2:14.22.

Two more new additions were added to Toledo's all-time record book. Avery moved up to second all-time from fifth place with her new lifetime-best finish in the 200 breast. Hack enters the 100 free list for the first time as No. 6. Jones timed a new PR in the 200 back finals, which moves her into second all-time.

2016-17 MACs RECAP
Nearly three fourths (42 of 56) of the Rockets' swims over the weekend were season-best times. The Midnight Blue & Gold recorded 17 lifetime-best finishes and tallied eight entries into Toledo's all-time Top 10 list. Avery, Jones and O'Sullivan all recorded NCAA B-cut qualifying times.
