Toledo Entertains Western Michigan in Saturday's Final Home Game

TOLEDO, OH Â - Toledo (18-8, 9-6 MAC) will conclude its home schedule against Western Michigan (16-10, 7-8 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tip-off time is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and the Mid-American Conference West Division showdown will be streamed on ESPN3.
After tomorrow's final regular-season home contest, UT's two seniors - Sophie Reecher and Janice Monakana - will be honored. The Rockets will also recognize senior student manager Emily Cornieles and senior student athletic trainer Meghan Michael as part of their post-game festivities.
Toledo is currently tied for fifth place in the overall MAC standings with Ohio (18-8, 9-6 MAC) and Buffalo (19-7, 9-6) and trails Central Michigan (21-6, 13-2 MAC), Ball St. (19-8, 12-3), Northern Illinois (18-8, 11-4), Kent St. (16-11, 10-5) with three regular-season contests remaining. The Midnight Blue & Gold own the tiebreaker against the Bulls but do not versus the Bobcats. They won both cross-division match-ups against UB and lost a pair of meetings versus Ohio earlier this year.
If the regular season ended before Saturday's game, UT would be the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament. The top four seeds receive an automatic bye to the quarterfinals of the postseason event. If Toledo does not secure one of the coveted byes, it will host a first-round contest regardless of its final seeding on Monday, March 6. Â

Toledo did a bulk of its damage on the interior and posted a decisive 42-24 edge in points in the paint. The victors also finished with a sizable 43-34 rebounding advantage, spearheaded by Monakana, McIntyre and Bravo-Harriott with eight, seven and six boards, respectively.Â
For the season, the Rockets are fueled offensively by the quartet of Monakana, Bravo-Harriott, Boyd and McIntyre, who are averaging 12.4, 12.3, 11.5 and 10.5 ppg, respectively. This group accounts for 63.0 percent of the team's scoring.
Toledo will face a WMU squad that has lost six of its last eight contests, most recently suffering an 83-72 home setback against BSU on Wednesday. Deja Mobley led the Broncos with 24 points.
Western Michigan, which is 9-5 away from home, features an offense with four players tallying at least 11.5 points per game, led by Marley Hill and Mobley tallying 14.8 and 14.3 ppg, respectively. In addition, Mobley is pulling down a team-high 9.8 rebounds, while Hill is swatting a squad-best 1.1 blocks per contest.
UT and WMU will do battle for the second time in a little over two weeks and the 76th time overall. The Rockets claimed a 72-66 road victory over the Broncos on Feb. 8 in University Arena.
