Thunpijja Sukkasem Earns MAC Women’s Golfer of Week Honors

TOLEDO, OH - Freshman Thunpijja Sukkasem (Bangkok, Thailand) was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Thursday after tying for first place at the Ball State Sunshine Invitational last weekend. Sukkasem is receiving the honor for the first time in her collegiate career and is the third Rocket to be honored this season.
Sukkasem, who was competing as an individual, earned a share of medalist honors for the first time in just her fourth collegiate tournament. She posted a 54-hole score of 231 (78-78-75) and carded a three-over par in the final round to climb from third place entering the day to the top of the leaderboard. Sukkasem also tied for first in the 66-player field in par-five scoring at one-under par and was tied for third in par-four scoring at 10-over par.
Sukkasem and the Rockets return to action at the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State University on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 20-21 in Port St. Lucie, FL.
