CLEVELAND, OH – Senior Sidnay Huck and freshman Dee Dee Leenabanchong have been voted the Mid-American Conference Women's Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Â
This is the first time the duo have received this honor and the first time a UT doubles pair has been awarded this season. Leenabanchong was named last week's MAC Singles Player of the Week.
Â
"Sid and Dee Dee have beat some great opponents so far this season," said head coach Tracy Mauntler. "They complement each other extremely well and they've been working really hard at practice. I'm very proud of them!"
Â
Huck and Leenabanchong continued their dominance at the top of the Rockets' lineup at the No. 1 doubles spot last weekend. The Rocket duo began with a hard-fought 7-6 victory over Duquesne's Julianne Herman and Kylie Isaacs on Friday, snapping the Duke's top pair's 3-0 winning streak. Huck and Leenabanchong returned to the court to match up against Cleveland State's Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler on Saturday. The UT pair found themselves on their way to their sixth-straight win (5-3) before Toledo's other doubles teams clinched the point for Toledo at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
