ATHENS, Ohio – Toledo dropped a 78-61 decision at Ohio in Sunday's Mid-American Conference opener in the Convocation Center. With the loss, UT falls to 9-4 overall, 0-1 in league play.

Junior Mikaela Boyd paced three Rockets in double figures with a season-high 20 points and 10 rebounds to post her second double-double this year and 12^th in her collegiate career.

Junior Kaayla McIntyre followed Boyd closely with 18 points and seven caroms, while senior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott chipped in 12 points.

UT was held in check offensively, shooting a season-low 28.1 percent (16-of-57) from the field, including 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from three-point range, and 83.3 percent (25-of-30) from the free throw line to suffer its fifth straight loss to Ohio (7-5, 1-0 MAC).

Dominique Doseck led the Bobcats with a career-high 27 points, knocking down a collegiate-best five triples. The home team also received 12 points from Cierra Hooks and 11 by Taylor Agler to help them record their third straight conference-opening triumph.

The Rockets looked good early, taking advantage of seven points from McIntyre and six by Boyd to assume a 13-11 lead after 10 minutes. UT's dynamic duo shot a combined 4-of-7 from the field and perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe in the first quarter.

In the second stanza, the Bobcats benefited from at least five points from three different players to take a 35-32 lead into the intermission. Gabby Burns and Agler led the way with six points each in the stanza, while Doseck contributed five to propel Ohio to a three-point bulge at the break. It proved to be a lead they would not surrender.

The Bobcats came out of halftime on-fire, ripping off the first eight points to stretch UT's deficit to double figures, 43-32, at the 8:20 mark. The big basket in the run was a traditional three-point play from Doseck to force Toledo to call a timeout.

Ohio continued to pour it on in the quarter, receiving eight more points from Doseck to build a 64-47 lead after 30 minutes of competition. The sharp shooter knocked down a pair of three-point field goals and helped the Green & White outscore UT, 29-15, for the period.

UT pulled within 10 points late in the final quarter but would get no closer, as the Midnight Blue & Gold suffered a sixth loss in its last seven conference openers.

The Rockets will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 when they host MAC East Division foe Akron. Game time versus the Zips is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3.

A year ago, Toledo claimed a 61-57 road victory against the Zips during the regular season (Feb. 15). The cross-division foes also squared off in the opening round of the conference tourney, with UT securing a 65-37 home triumph (March 6).
