Toledo, OH – Senior wide receiver/punt returner
Corey Jones (Pittsburgh, PA)  was today named to the official watch list for the 2016 Paul Hornung Award. The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is named for former Notre Dame and Green Bay Packer star Paul Hornung and  is presented annually to the most versatile player in major college football.
Â
Jones was named first-team All-MAC in 2015 as a punter returner, leading the league with a 10.2 yards per return average. He also led the Rockets with 55 receptions and caught five touchdown passes. In 2014, Jones earned second-team All-MAC honors as a wide receiver, snagging a career-best 68 passes for 842 yards and five scores.
Â
The Louisville Sports Commission launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players that often go unnoticed. The finalists for the award are chosen by the Paul Hornung Award Selection Committee with fan voting on Facebook counting for an additional vote.
Â
Jones' addition to the Hornung Award watch list gives Toledo a school-record eight players on a total of 10 official watch lists.
