Cleveland, OH – Junior
Stjepan Sisko (Kastel Stari, Croatia) was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year for the third-consecutive year, the league office announced on Tuesday. Sisko shares this year's honor with Ball State's Lucas Anderson. This is also the third-straight year he has earned First-Team All-MAC status.
Â
"We're very proud and pleased that Stjepan has again been recognized by the MAC coaches for his accomplishments throughout the season. He's improved a lot over the past 12 months," said head coach
Al Wermer. "This year was such a contrast to last year for our team, and he's taken huge steps in developing his game, life skills and leadership."
Â
The junior has recorded an impressive 57-15 overall record (12-1 MAC) during his three years at Toledo, including a 36-11 record at first singles in dual matches.
Â
This season, Sisko posted a 25-5 overall record at No. 1 singles (6-1 MAC) and produced a career-high winning streak of 16 matches. His only conference loss came against Anderson in a three-set battle (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4) on April 22. Highlighting Sisko's season was his 6-1, 7-5 victory over No. 60 Alex Knight of the University of Michigan.
