Tre’Shaun Fletcher Transferring to Rockets from Colorado

TOLEDO, OH — Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced on Wednesday that 6-7, 205-pound guard/forward Tre'Shaun Fletcher (Wilmar, AR) is transferring to the University of Toledo from the University of Colorado. Fletcher will need to sit out the 2016-17 season before playing his final season as a collegian in a Rocket uniform.

"We're very excited to have Tre'Shaun join of our program," said Kowalczyk, who has guided the Rockets to the second-most overall victories (64) in the Mid-American Conference over the last three seasons. "He's a very talented, long wing player who can guard multiple positions. He can really shoot the ball, and he possesses a great feel for the game. He's someone we feel is an impact player, and we think he'll soften the blow of losing our four seniors to graduation after next season."

Fletcher averaged 7.1 points and 2.4 rebounds for the Buffaloes in 19.6 minutes per game in the 2015-16 campaign to help CU earn its fourth NCAA Tournament berth in the last five seasons. A starter in 14 of 34 contests, Fletcher tallied double-digit point totals in nine outings and shot 34.7 percent (35-of-101) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (55-of-66) from the charity stripe. In 88 games at the collegiate level, Fletcher recorded 5.5 points and 2.3 boards per contest.

Fletcher's top performance in Pacific-12 Conference play this past season came when he poured in 15 points, tied his career high with six rebounds and grabbed two steals at Oregon State. He ranked 15th  in  the  Pac-12  in  three-point  shooting during league games (.400) and drained 30 of 34 (.882) free-throw attempts during conference play.

The former 2012-13 3A Washington Player of the Year, Fletcher helped lead Lincoln High School to a 63-12 (.840) win-loss mark during his sophomore, junior and senior campaigns. He is the Abes' all-time leading scorer and averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as a senior. Fletcher was rated a three-star prospect (No. 26 small forward, No. 143 overall) by Rivals.com and was ranked No. 90 nationally by Scout.com.

Fletcher is the fifth member of Toledo's 2016-17 recruiting class. He joins guard Lucas Antunez (Madrid, Spain), guard Daniel Dzierzawski (Hamilton, ONT), forward James Gordon IV (Shelbyville, KY) and guard Justin Roberts (Lawrence, KS).
