GAME NOTES
Kent, OH - Toledo (6-23-1, 2-4 MAC) will head to Kent State (20-9, 4-2 MAC) for a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Due to inclement weather, the game has been moved up from its original time of 6:00 p.m. The Rockets will also play on Saturday, April 9 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m.
Head coach Cory Mee expects junior LHP Steven Calhoun (0-1, 7.52 ERA) to start for the Rockets on Friday. Senior RHP Ross Achter (2-4, 4.15 ERA) should start on Saturday, and junior RHP Sam Shutes to get his sixth start of the year on Sunday. LHP Eric Lauer (4-2, 1.19 ERA), RHP Andy Ravel (3-2, 5.87 ERA) and LHP Eli Kraus (5-1, 2.41 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Golden Flashes. Lauer has the lowest ERA in the MAC so far this season.
Toledo is coming off a 6-4 win over Youngstown State on Wednesday, April 6 at Eastwood Field in Niles, OH. Freshman RHP Luke Schaefer earned his first collegiate victory after throwing 1.0 inning and not allowing a hit, and freshman LHP Michael Jacob shut the door on his fifth save of the season after 1.0 inning of work. At the plate, sophomore 1B Dalton Bollinger led the way after going 3-for-4 with one double and three RBI, tying a career-high. Senior SS Deion Tansel also tied a game-high with three hits and knocked in one run.
UT and KSU have common opponents off Pittsburgh and Ohio State. KSU fell to Pitt, 9-4 and 5-13, and took down Ohio State on Wednesday, 8-3. Toledo is 65-89-1 all-time against Kent State while Mee is 12-20 against KSU.
Toledo will be back in action on Tuesday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Oakland.
