Toledo Concludes Season with Sixth-Place Finish at MAC Championships

SYLVANIA, OH – Toledo wrapped up its 2015-16 campaign on Saturday with a sixth-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships at the par-71, 6,712 yard Highland Meadows Golf Club. The Rockets recorded a score of 59-over par 1,195 over the course of the last three days at the league's premier event.
Senior Otto Black topped UT at seven-over par 291 (72-73-74-72) and finished in 10th place, marking his third Top 10 effort at the conference championships over the last four years. Black was honored following the tourney with a spot on the All-MAC First-Team for a second-straight year.
Sophomore Stephen Watts tied for 15th spot at 14-over par 298 (75-76-75-72) and was followed by sophomore Colin Joseph, who tied for 27th place at 20-over par 304 (72-76-81-75). Rounding out the Rockets' lineup were senior Thomas Shindler, who tied for 37th spot at 26-over par 310 (77-79-74-80) and freshman Spencer Shoemaker tied for 39th place at 27-over par 311 (78-80-75-78).
Kent State captured its 23rd team title in program history with a four-round score of 16-over par 1,152 (288-291-285-288), 20 strokes ahead of runner-up Eastern Michigan at 36-over par 1,172 (288-295-296-293).
Individually, Akron's George Baylis claimed individual medalist honors with a tally of one-under par 283 (76-72-68-67) in a field of 45 players, four shots ahead of runner-ups Kent State's Ian Holt (73-72-70-72), Northern Illinois' Joo-Young Lee (72-67-73-75) and Eastern Michigan's Kyles Rodes (70-77-70-70) at three-over par 287.
