TOLEDO, OH – Toledo swept a non-conference doubleheader over Bowling Green, 2-1, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Scott Park. The Rockets improved to 15-31 on the season to extend their winning streak to seven games. The Falcons' record dropped to 18-30 overall.

After Bowling Green plated the game's first run in the opening inning, sophomore C
Kaitlyn Bergman doubled to left-center to lead off the bottom of the second and scored on junior DP
Celeste Fidge's sacrifice fly.

Toledo snapped the 1-1 deadlock one inning later when sophomore 1B
Samantha Showalter singled up the middle to score senior RF

Marla Gooding collected her fourth straight win and 12
th of the season by pitching all seven innings. Gooding allowed just one run, walked two and struck out four. The senior has only allowed three earned runs in her last six appearances.

GAME 2
Toledo was the first to get on the board in the nightcap. Junior 2B
Chandler Rice scored in the bottom of the first on Showalter's groundout to second.
The Falcons answered with a two-run homer to left in the third inning to take a 2-1 advantage.
UT answered quickly when Rice singled and stole second, advanced to third on Showalter's sacrifice and scored on a suicide-squeeze bunt by junior 3B

Toledo broke the game open in the fifth when Lemieux drilled a grounder that BG's first baseman couldn't handle. Freshman SS
Megan Choate crossed the plate on the play with the go-ahead run. Rice followed with her 10
th double of the season to bring Lemieux and sophomore CF
Ashley Rausch home. George's groundout to short added one more insurance run.
Freshman RHP
Heather Webb (3-10) claimed the victory in game two by going the entire seven innings in the circle. Webb allowed two earned runs, walked one batter and struck out five Falcons.

The Midnight Blue & Gold will host Northern Illinois for a three-game series this weekend April 29-30. Friday's single contest will begin at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m. Saturday will also be Alumni Day for past Rocket softball players.
Past UT players are welcome to participate in batting practice on the field at 10:30 a.m. prior to the Rockets' doubleheader vs. Northern Illinois. In between games, the alumni will be recognized on the field. Following game two, the alumni are invited to enjoy a catered-in dinner with the current players and staff in the Toledo baseball and softball hitting facility at Scott Park.
