TOLEDO – The University of Toledo football program will add a pair of transfers who will help bolster the Rocket defense in 2016, head coach
Jason Candle announced today. Jeremi Powell, a linebacker from Florida, and Earl Moore, a defensive tackle from Miami (FL), will join the team in the fall. Both players will graduate from their respective schools this spring and will have one year of athletic eligibility remaining.
"We look forward to both of these young men joining the Rocket family," said Candle. "They will add experience and depth to our defense next fall."
Powell, a 6-1, 215-pound linebacker, played in 10 games for the Gators last season, starting two He made 11 tackles and had one tackle for loss. In his career at Florida, Powell played in 25 games, registering 21 tackles. He was originally recruited by Florida out of Pinellas Park High School in Largo, FL.
Moore, a 6-1, 302-pound defensive tackle from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, appeared in 23 games in two seasons with the Hurricanes.
The Rockets begin training camp on Aug. 3 and open their season at Arkansas State on Sept. 3. The home opener is Sept. 10 vs. Maine.
