Rockford, IL – Toledo was defeated by Northern Illinois, 4-3, to wrap up a season sweep of the Rockets by the Huskies. With the loss, UT falls to 7-15 overall and 0-5 in the conference, which ends the Rockets' eligibility for the 2016 MAC tournament.
 
"Three of our 4-3 MAC losses have come down to the last match on the court, and at the very end of the third set. That being said, 15 minutes of our entire year cost us our tournament bid. It just shows you how competitive the MAC is," said head coach Al Wermer.
 
Toledo started out hot, claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots.
 
Sophomore Omar Espinosa and freshman Danilo Pejovic claimed a 6-4 victory at second doubles, while the freshman pair of Vince Anzalone and Serjen Olmedo won by the same score at the three spot.
 
As UT led 1-0 heading into singles play, SIsko claimed his usual victory at first singles, 6-1, 6-2. The Huskies then evened the match with wins at No. 2 and 3 singles.
 
With the dual even 2-2, the victory came down to the final three matches, all of which went into third sets.
 
Sophomore Stephen Miller was the only Rocket to secure a victory as he defeated Austin Russell, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, at sixth singles.
 
Toledo will finish out its regular season in two weeks. UT will travel to Muncie, IN for a rematch against the Ball State Cardinals on April 22 before returning home to host the last match of the season vs. WMU on April 23.
