LAKE WORTH, FL – Toledo will participate in the eighth-annual FAU Slomin Autism Invite on Friday-Sunday, March 25-27. The three-day tournament will take place on the North Course at the Fountains Country Club (Par-71, 6,876 Yards) and be hosted by Florida Atlantic University.
The 54-hole event will feature a tee time start each day, with 18 holes being played on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 18 holes on Sunday starting at 8:00 a.m.
UT will be joined in the 15-team field by Bethune-Cookman, Canisius, Central Florida, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Miami, Middle Tennessee, Morehead State, Ole Miss, Murray State, Stetson and host FAU.Â
The Rockets' lineup at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite will include senior Otto Black, sophomore Stephen Watts, senior Thomas Shindler, freshman Jamie Knipe and sophomore Colin Joseph. In addition, freshman Cameron Mills will compete as an individual this weekend.Â
Toledo is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on March 12-13 at the El Campeón Course (Par-72, 6,966 Yards).
The Rockets fired rounds of 294, 290 and 317 (901 total) to finish first among two Mid-American Conference teams, topping Ohio (308-315-299) which tied for 13th place at 58-over par 922.
Individually, Black (70-74-79) and Watts (70-72-81) led UT at seven-over par 223 to finish in a five-way tie for 26th place at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular. Joseph (78-69-80) finished four strokes behind Black and Watts at 11-over par 227 to tie for the 43rd spot, followed closely by Shindler (76-75-77) at 12-over par 228 to tie for 45th place.Â
Black currently leads the Rockets with a 73.4 stroke average followed by Watts (75.0), Shindler (76.9), freshman Spencer Shoemaker (77.1) Â and Joseph (77.3).
The Rockets will participate in this weekend's event for the first time. Central Florida (279-293-291=863) won the team title at last year's event by 13 strokes over runner-up Connecticut (294-289-293=876). Individually, UCF's Ryan Stovash secured medalist honors with a tally of five-under par 208 (68-67-73).
